Se <b>considera uno de los ejemplares m\u00e1s importantes de la arquitectura griega antigua <\/b>y fue construido entre el 421 y el 406 a.C., durante la Edad de Oro de Atenas. Su construcci\u00f3n fue supervisada por el arquitecto Mnesicles entre los a\u00f1os 421 y 407 a.C. <b>El templo debe su nombre al m\u00edtico rey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/Erechtheus-Greek-mythology\">Erecteo<\/a>, que se cre\u00eda enterrado en el lugar<\/b>. El edificio tambi\u00e9n estaba dedicado a Atenea Polias, diosa de la ciudad, y a Poseid\u00f3n, de quien se dec\u00eda que hab\u00eda creado un manantial de agua salada al golpear el suelo con su tridente.<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">La historia del templo est\u00e1 estrechamente ligada a la evoluci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica y cultural de la antigua Atenas. Se construy\u00f3 durante la Edad de Oro de Atenas, una \u00e9poca de gran prosperidad y logros art\u00edsticos. El edificio fue encargado por el estadista ateniense Pericles, que quer\u00eda crear un gran templo que mostrara los logros culturales y art\u00edsticos de Atenas. El templo est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ado en estilo j\u00f3nico, pero tambi\u00e9n incorpora elementos de los \u00f3rdenes d\u00f3rico y corintio, creando un efecto visual rico y variado. El edificio est\u00e1 dividido en dos secciones principales, la oriental y la occidental, separadas por un gran vest\u00edbulo central.<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">El interior del Erectei\u00f3n est\u00e1 dividido en dos secciones principales, la oriental y la occidental. La sala central, que separa las dos secciones, se conoce como <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hekatompedon\">Hekatompedon<\/a> (que significa \u00absala de los cien pies\u00bb) y presenta seis columnas j\u00f3nicas a cada lado.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">La secci\u00f3n oriental del templo albergaba la estatua de culto de Atenea Polias, diosa patrona de la ciudad. Se cre\u00eda que la estatua era un antiguo <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Xoanon\">xoanon de madera<\/a>, o imagen de culto, que se dec\u00eda que hab\u00eda ca\u00eddo del cielo durante el reinado de Erecteo. En la sala hab\u00eda tambi\u00e9n una gran estatua de Poseid\u00f3n y un pozo que, seg\u00fan se dec\u00eda, hab\u00eda sido creado por el tridente de Poseid\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">La secci\u00f3n occidental del templo albergaba el culto a Erecteo, m\u00edtico rey de Atenas. La sala conten\u00eda una gran estatua del rey, as\u00ed como el \u00abolivo de Atenea\u00bb, que se dec\u00eda hab\u00eda sido plantado por la propia Atenea. Las cari\u00e1tides miden m\u00e1s de dos metros de altura y est\u00e1n talladas con cuidado y rasgos delicados.
